"I love the beauty of diversity and the diversity in beauty"

Relwyn Reffell a self taught portrait artist whose creative endeavours aim to challenge the established ideologies surrounding beauty, aesthetics and portraiture. Relwyn aims to open people's eyes to a more inclusive and accepting world, where beauty is celebrated in all its diverse forms.

The sense of challenge is why he uses pencil and charcoal as his medium of choice because he wants to continue to push the boundaries of what he can create. His work encourages viewers to critically examine their own biases and question established norms both in portraiture but also in the use of pencil and charcoal.

Relwyn's work has garnered recognition through various exhibitions around the UK. He was a finalist of the Visual Art Open (VAO) competition in 2018 and has exhibited his work twice at the Royal Society of British Artists exhibitions in 2019 and 2020 at the Mall Galleries. In 2021, Relwyn’s work was selected for the Society of Graphic Fine Art 2021 and in 2023 for the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition, also at the Mall Galleries in London.
